Traditional Rice Krispies Treat Recipes

Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons margarine or butter
1 package (10 oz. about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
Directions:
1. Melt butter or margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG'S® RICE KRISPIES® cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper, press mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Let cool completely. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day. Makes 24 squares
Microwave Directions:
1. In a large microwave safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stir 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
2. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.
*Microwave cooking times may vary.
Options: 1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow creme can be substituted for marshmallows.

1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut (not shredded)
Generously grease a 9x13 pan with butter. Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
Add crispy rice cereal, pecans and coconut. Stir until well coated. Press mixture into pan with a sheet of waxed paper or a greased spoon.

Microwave Directions: In large bowl combine cereal and chocolate pieces. In 2 quart microwave safe dish place butter and marshmallows. Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, stirring until melted. Pour marshmallow mixture over cereal mixture; mix gently. Fill each cup with mixture, press lightly and insert sticks; let cool completely.

2 c. Rice Krispies
4 tbsp. butter
1 pkg. chocolate morsels (about 1 c.)
3/4 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioner's sugar
Crush Rice Krispies. (Do not crush to powder.) Combine butter, chocolate chips, corn syrup and vanilla in large saucepan. Place pan on very low heat and stir constantly until smooth and well blended.
Remove from heat and mix in confectioner's sugar with wire whisk. Stir Rice Krispies in slowly until thoroughly coated. Quickly press mixture into buttered 9 x 13 x 2 inch pan. Refrigerate until firm.
Cut into chocolate bars and wrap. Store in an airtight container.

2 c. Rice Krispies cereal
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. mini marshmallows
1 c. drained, halved maraschino cherries
1 c. pecan halves
3 family size Nestle Alpine white chocolate bars
2 tsp. solid vegetable shortening
Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray vegetable oil. In large bowl combine cereal, chocolate chips, marshmallows, cherries, and pecans; set aside.
In small heavy saucepan over very low heat, stir white chocolate and shortening until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal mixture in bowl. Stir gently to coat completely.
Press firmly and evenly into prepared 9x13 pan using greased fingers or waxed paper. Refrigerate 30 minutes until firm. Cut into bars.
White Chocolate Nut Krispies
2 lb. white chocolate
3 c. Rice Krispies
3 c. pretzel sticks (broken into small pieces)
3 oz. pkg. of nuts, chopped (preferably pecans)
Put chocolate in large baking pan (11x13). Melt in 200 degree oven. When melted, add ingredients. Drop by teaspoonful on waxed paper.

School Rice Krispies
1 c. honey
1 c. sugar
1 c. peanut butter
1 box Rice Krispies
*Can be 1/2 syrup, 1/2 honey
Melt honey and sugar. Bring to rapid boil for 1 minute. Stir in peanut butter until dissolved. Pour in the box of Rice Krispies; mix and press on a cookie sheet.
Cut while hot in 2-inch squares with a knife dipped in butter. So good; chewy texture. If they get hard, you can put them in a low oven for about 10 minutes. Brings them back to chewy.
Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Munch Bars
1 c. maple flavored Karo syrup
1 c. sugar
1 c. peanut butter
7 c. rice crispy cereal
Combine sugar and syrup in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, stirring until melted. Place cereal in a large bowl and pour hot mixture over cereal, stirring well to coat. Gently spread on a greased pan and cool. Cut into bars. Roasted peanuts are very good in this.

Frosting: In double boiler melt together 1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips and and 1 tablespoon butter. Pour over cereal mixture.

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Dash salt

Beat together shortening, sugar, eggs, vanilla and milk. Add rest of ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Pecan Cheese Krispies
2 c. (8 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 c. butter, softened
1/4 tsp. hot sauce
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. self-rising flour
2 c. crispy rice cereal

Combine cheese and butter in a large mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until blended. Add hot sauce and mustard; gradually add flours, mixing until blended. Stir in cereal.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place on ungreased baking sheets and flatten with a fork, making a crisscross design. Press a pecan half in the center of each cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes; cool.
To freeze, let wafers cool completely on wire rack. Transfer to airtight container, and freeze. To serve, thaw wafers at room temperature for 1 hour. Yield: 5 dozen

Crispy Apple Sticks
3 tbsp. peanut butter
2 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. apple juice
1 unpeeled apple, cored, sliced in 8 pieces
2 c. crispy rice cereal, crushed to 1 c.
Measure peanut butter, honey and apple juice into a 16 ounce bowl. Microwave on high power for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir until smooth. Insert toothpick in end of each apple slice. Dip each side of apple in peanut butter mixture. Roll in crushed cereal. Serve immediately.
